Jets' Brandon Marshall "fine" after scary-looking knee twist

NEW YORK (AP) - Brandon Marshall and the Jets can breathe a sigh of relief.

Jets coach Todd Bowles said the wide receiver's left knee is OK and he should be able to play in New York's next game against Kansas City on Sept. 25.

"Brandon is fine," Bowles said Friday. "He has a sore knee. He got some treatment, but he's walking around pretty good."

Marshall avoided serious injury after a scary-looking knee twist Thursday night when Buffalo cornerback Stephon Gilmore brought him down by the facemask in the second quarter of the Jets' 37-31 win. The receiver immediately grabbed his knee, which had been bent awkwardly under him, but surprisingly returned to the game later in the quarter.

Marshall had additional tests Friday, which revealed no serious damage. A relieved Marshall also wrote on Instagram : "I knew it couldn't end like that."

Bowles said left guard James Carpenter (strained calf) and linebacker Erin Henderson (foot) were still undergoing tests and their status was unknown.

"It's not alarming yet," Bowles said. "We'll wait to see when the tests come back and go from there. But anytime somebody doesn't return to the game, you have to be concerned."

Wesley Johnson, the team's backup center, replaced Carpenter and played well against the Bills. Dakota Dozier, Carpenter's normal backup, was inactive.

Henderson was replaced by rookie Darron Lee, a first-rounder out of Ohio State who was impressive while finishing with five total tackles.
