Boys soccer: Huntley downs Joliet Central

Zach Whitaker and Aaron Ruffner each had a goal and an assist Thursday night as Huntley's boys soccer team defeated Joliet Central 2-1 in the final round of the PepsiCo Showdown.

Michael Parks made 3 saves in goal for the Red Raiders (7-3).

Jacobs 7, CL Central 1: Noah Melick scored 4 goals to lead the Golden Eagles (3-2-3, 1-0) to a Fox Valley Conference win. Austin Snobel had 2 goals for Jacobs and Jacob Sabella added the other score. Ethan Pickering and Chris Cranston combined for 5 saves in goal for the Eagles.

East Aurora 2, Burlington Central 1 (PKs): In the PepsiCo Showdown, East Aurora won in PKs. Gustavo Huerta scored for the Tomcats off an assist from Carlos Gonzalez. Lorenzo Trejo had 11 saves for East (4-6). Jack Schramme scored for the Rockets (3-4-4).

Harvest Christian 5, South Beloit 1: In the Northeastern Athletic Conference, Cesar Velazquez and Raphael DeSouza had 2 goals each with Aaron Ptak and Owen Pish adding single knocks to lead the Lions to the win. Matt Baron had 1 save for Harvest.

Hampshire 3, Prairie Ridge 2 (PKs): Parker Bishop and Nico Barrientos scored Hampshire's goals in regulation in this FVC win. Andy Krajecki, Nick Sarrullo and Jason Polleta shared time in goal for the Whip-Purs (6-3-1, 1-1-0), combining for 14 saves).
