Schaumburg firefighters to host charity softball tournament
The Schaumburg Firefighters Benevolent Association will host its 23rd annual Firefighters Softball Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 17, at two locations in Schaumburg to benefit the Loyola University Medical Hospital Burn Center, the Schaumburg Township Food Pantry and other local charities.
The tournament will feature 34 teams from fire departments throughout the Chicago area.
First-round games begin at 8:30 a.m. at Campanelli Park, 1024 W. Weathersfield Way, and at 9 a.m. at Olympic Park, 1675 E. Old Schaumburg Road. The games are accompanied by food, raffles and a silent auction.
During the past 22 years, the event has raised nearly $620,000 for different charities. For more information, visit sfdsoftball.com.
