Colette A. Miles Foundation's annual dinner raises $30,000
The Colette A. Miles Foundation, a cancer support foundation founded by Irene Eby of St. Charles, held its third annual Raising Hope Dinner Feb. 11 at Riverside Receptions in Geneva.
This year's "Raising Hope" dinner included a live auction, a silent auction, gift baskets and a full sit down dinner all to help raise money for the foundation. This year's event raised 50 percent more than 2016, totaling $30,000. Sponsors of this event included Ameriprise Financial, Mr. & Mrs. Vaughn Moore and Mrs. Betsy Sanchez.
Music and entertainment were provided by DJ Billy DeFrancisco, with photography by Mazhar Sheriff.
The foundation is run by a group of volunteers and approximately 95 percent of the profit goes directly to those in need of their services, many of which are nontraditional in nature and patient specific. Beyond individual family support, the foundation also made a generous donation to Fox Valley Food For Health to aid in their efforts to deliver nurturing, healthy meals to cancer patients and their families. There also are ongoing efforts to strengthen its support of the LivingWell Cancer Resource Center.
The mission of the Colette A. Miles Foundation is first and foremost to provide well-needed support services to cancer patients and their families to aid in their healing journey. Secondly, they aim to support the volunteers who make this organization possible. They are most grateful to these individuals who provide the support services in honor of Colette Miles.
