On September 29th at Five Seasons Northbrook: 'The Talk: Quality of Life as We Age'

A free program on helping seniors maintain the best possible quality of life is slated for Thursday, September 29th at Five Seasons Family Sports Club in Northbrook.

Presented by Elizabeth Ury, a leader in the senior-care field, the one-hour session begins at 6:30 p.m. at Five Seasons, 1300 Techny Road, and is entitled "The Talk: Quality of Life as We Age."

Ury will offer guidance on how to start the conversation with seniors, covering topics such as what retirement looks like, the issue of remaining in one's home versus a new community, support systems and resources, and how families can work together.

Among other topics, Ury will cover the right questions to ask that will help navigate life choices and how to balance independence and safety.

A geriatric care manager and owner of PrimeLife Care, LLC, Ury is a licensed Nursing Home Administrator and a Certified Elder Care Manager. She has worked with older adults in many capacities but realized her passion after her grandfather developed Alzheimer's disease and saw all the stages he struggled through.

After working as an assisted living administrator, Elizabeth decided to establish PrimeLife Care to educate families on all the options for older adults to keep their independence and their safety using quality of life centered care. She works primarily in the northern and northwest suburbs, including Northbrook and Glenview.

The program is especially geared toward adult children who have parents or older loved ones in the area, older adults who have had changes in their lives that have affected their quality of life and are unsure what to do next, and older adults who need help but don't have a local support group.

The material shared by Ury would also be of interest to others who work in the field, such as hospital discharge planners, elder care attorneys, concierge doctors and assisted living and memory care social workers.

Advance registration is encouraged, though not required, to attend the session and refreshments will be provided. For more information, contact Chris Johnson at Five Seasons, at 847-897-5039, or Ury at 312-961-2298 or Elizury60015@gmail.com.
