One person injured in Fairfield Road crash near Wauconda

One person was injured in a crash on Fairfield Road near Wauconda Tuesday, authorities said.

Authorities said a 2002 Nissan Pathfinder traveling southbound on Fairfield crossed the centerline and hit a 1998 Chevrolet flatbed tow truck that was towing a van northbound on Fairfield Road near Bonner Road at 3:46 p.m. Tuesday.

The unidentified driver of the Nissan was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with critical injuries. His condition is unknown Wednesday morning.

The driver and passenger in the tow truck were uninjured.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
