Kaepernick should protest at hockey game

I find it odd that no one has pointed out in the Colin Kaepernick story that his real wrong was he made his so-called protest while wearing a San Francisco 49ers uniform.

There is no doubt the Supreme Court has stated a person has the right to free speech even to burn our great flag but, like anyone of us it does not include when you are representing your employer or your country. As most of you have, I have noted more than one person not stand for our National Anthem at a sporting event. To be honest, after a nudge from a fellow fan they stood and it was easy to assume it was for no other reason than they were just on their cellphone.

However, if we equate free speech to when you are representing someone other than yourself, then you imply your company, your league or your country agrees with you. Can you imagine a race car driver with the Confederate Flag on his car, an Air Force Captain wearing an arm band against abortion, a schoolteacher wearing a shirt renounced against gay marriage?

Mr. Kaepernick, if you want to protest our country, please attend a hockey game at the United Center and not stand with the other 22,000 fans when the public announcer says, "Ladies and Gentlemen. please rise and remove all hats while Jim Cornelison sings our National Anthem."

Oh, and by the way, as Dirty Harry once said. "Good luck, punk."
