Ram Slam: Grayslake Central took second place in its own Ram Slam Invite, losing to Carmel in the title match, 25-22, 25-14.
Morgan Anderberg led the Rams with 29 kills on the day while Cassidy Beshel chipped in with 20 kills.
Setter Lauren LaBeck had 56 assists and Abbey Marassa led the defense with 82 digs.
Carmel also defeated Regina, Richmond Burton and Wauconda.
"We made a lot of good strides today," Carmel coach David Pazely said. "We fought through adversity, overcame some previous struggles and improved as a team. This was a great stepping stone capped off with some hardware for our first tournament of the year."
Wauconda finished fourth.
Nicole Carazas finished with 24 kills for Wauconda while Lauren Sexton added 20 kills. Setter Summer Olsen rolled up 42 assists and Jane Sakowicz had 69 digs.
Peggy Scholten Classic: At Conant High School, Mundelein went 2-3 with wins over Elk Grove (25-19, 25-12) and Harlem (25-18, 18-25, 15-13).
Sidney Brunkow led the way for the Mustangs with 22 kills and 36 digs on the day while Amanda Bogseth had 11 blocks.
Setter Mackenzie Linane finished with 33 assists.
Mundelein is now 5-9 on the season.
Vernon Hills gets win: At the New Trier tournament, Vernon Hills improved to 2-6 on the season with a 20-25, 25-15, 27-25 victory over Niles North.
Warren splits: Also at the New Trier tournament, Warren went 1-1, defeating Maine West (27-25, 18-25, 25-19) and losing to Glenbrook South (21-25, 25-22, 21-25).
Claire Lundtveit rolled up 18 kills on the day for Warren, which also got 7 aces from Amanda Howe and 24 assists from setter Allison Maan da Kok.
