Enjoy classical music at Mayslake
Enjoy a night of classical music at the season opener of the Music at Mayslake series of concerts by Picosa, a mixed chamber ensemble.
The opening performance begins at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11, at Mayslake Peabody Estate, 1717 W. 31st St., Oak Brook. The series continues Nov. 12, March 4 and May 28.
The concert will feature works by Haydn, Faure, Bach, Dvorak and American jazz composer Hersch. Guest performer Jeremy Ward will be featured on cello, along with Jennie Brown on flute, Elizabeth Brausa Brathwaite on violin and Jeffrey Panko on piano.
The cheery lightness of Haydn's "Trio" encapsulates the bustling energy of 18th century London, while "Lyric" embodies the freedom of this generation of American jazz.
"This concert gives visitors an opportunity to enjoy wonderful music at Mayslake, one of our most beautiful and scenic preserves," said DuPage County Forest Preserve District Commissioner Jeff Redick, District 2.
The audience is invited to meet the musicians after the program at a gourmet dessert reception. The program is for ages 10 and older; those younger than 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Tickets range from free for high school students to $10 for accompanying parents and $25 for adults. Guests who bring a donation for the Hesed House, a national model for ending homelessness, will receive a $5 discount on tickets price.
