Boomers fall to Crushers 6-3
The Schaumburg Boomers struggled to silence Lake Erie's offense for a second straight game, falling by a final score of 10-3.
The Boomers fell behind early with the Crushers scoring 2 runs in the second. Schaumburg quickly answered with 3 runs in the bottom of the frame. Jack Cockrum led off with a triple and came in to score on a Nick Oberg double to left. Tobias Moreno followed with a double of his own to plate Oberg. Moreno eventually scored on a sacrifice fly from Argenis Aldazoro to give the Boomers the lead, 3-2.
Lake Erie erupted for four in the fourth to make it 6-3. The Crushers tacked on one in the seventh and shortstop Eric Grabe hit a tape-measure 3-run home run in the top of the ninth to complete the scoring at 10-3.
Gunnar Kines suffered the loss, tossing 5 innings and striking out eight. Kines saw a 13⅔ innings scoreless streak snapped in the Lake Erie 6-run second inning.
]The Boomers try to salvage a win out of the series Thursday night with righty Brett Mabry (2-3, 4.24) facing lefty Connor Reed (3-1, 4.03).
