Aaron Neville Duo, Smithereens part of Schaumburg's Prairie Center season

The 2016-17 season of the Prairie Center for the Arts in Schaumburg includes a wide variety of acts and artists.

The season kicks off with Grammy Award-winning R&B when the Aaron Neville Duo performs on Saturday, Sept. 17. Other highlights of the season include:

• Ron Keaton in "Churchill," an acclaimed one-man show, on Saturday, Oct. 1.

• Christopher Kale Jones in "Darin," a show about the late crooner Bobby Darin, on Saturday, Oct. 8.

• The Queen's Cartoonists perform chamber music transcription of music from animated films and shorts on Saturday, Oct. 22.

• The Fabulous Thunderbirds featuring Kim Wilson perform the blues on Friday, Nov. 18.

• Chris Lemmon stars in "A Twist of Lemmon," which focuses on his late Academy Award-winning father, Jack Lemmon, on Feb. 11.

• The Liverpool Legends, a Beatles tribute act will play March 18.

• The Smithereens will perform Saturday, April 1.

Other annual shows at the Prairie Center are also back, with the interactive "Mystery at the Theater" playing Friday and Saturday, Oct. 14 and 15; "The Nutcracker" running from Friday, Dec. 2, to Sunday, Dec. 11; the Screen Test Student Fest on Friday and Saturday, April 21 and 22; and the Senior Follies on Sunday, April 23.

Local arts organizations such as the Schaumburg Youth Symphony Orchestra, Camerata Chicago and Presto! are each in the lineup, plus a few historical lectures.
