State Sen. McConnaughay to join Kane Co. Cougars' Back to School Night

State Sen. Karen McConnaughay will be joining the Kane County Cougars at the annual Back to School Night on Sunday, Aug. 14.

The Cougars will challenge the Cedar Rapids Kernels at Fifth Third Bank Ball Park, 34W002 Cherry Lane in Geneva. The festivities begin early at 11:15 a.m. prior to the game start at 1 p.m.

Back to School Night features a full activity schedule and perks, including a backpack giveaway presented by state Sen. McConnaughay, an autograph signing with the Cougars, prize raffles, face painting and a hydrating station.

WTTW Kids will be in attendance to showcase their Readers Are Leaders program. Wrapping up her summer library series, McConnaughay will be donating a tour-favorite, "Grace for President," to the literacy initiative.

Families and children will participate in educational singalongs and storytelling, along with a book exchange - where children can trade their gently used book for a new one.

State Sen. McConnaughay encourages residents and fans to come enjoy one of their last few days of summer at the ball park.

"Kane County Cougars' games draw attention from all over Illinois, and we are very lucky to have them in our backyard," she said. "This event is the perfect opportunity to spend time with family and friends before school starts up."
