Scorched Earth receives Illinois Made honor

ALGONQUIN - Scorched Earth Brewing Company has received an "Illinois Made" designation from the Illinois Department of Commerce's Office of Tourism.

The state tourism agency created the Illinois Made program to feature makers, creators and artisans from across the state.

"The team at Scorched Earth is honored and humbled to receive the Illinois Made Award," said owners Mike and Jennifer Dallas. "To us, this award is a symbol of not only our hard work and the quality product we provide, but our passion to work with other local artisans like Ethereal Confections and Heider's Berry Farm, to showcase their quality ingredients."

Throughout the summer, Commerce's Office of Tourism will feature a series of in-depth videos, exclusive web content, and Illinois Made-inspired travel ideas at www.EnjoyIllinois.com/Illinoismade.

"By profiling the stories of these makers and how the state of Illinois shapes their work through Illinois Made, we hope to inspire both new and repeat travelers to discover the gems they didn't know about on a trip to Illinois," said Cory M. Jobe, director of the Office of Tourism.

Jaki Berggren, executive director of Visit McHenry County, said the agency was excited to have Scorched Earth Brewing Co. as an Illinois Made designate.

"From the local reclaimed barn wood decorating their taproom to the local ingredients used in their craft beers, Scorched Earth represents a true Illinois Made destination," Berggren said.
