Boomers top Miners to take series
The Schaumburg Boomers came from behind again to take the rubber match from the Southern Illinois Miners, 3-1.
The Miners scored an unearned run in the first before the Boomers scored 2 runs on an Argenis Aldazoro single. Aldazoro has hits in each of his first three games as a Boomer. Schaumburg added an insurance run in the seventh on a Mark Nelson RBI double.
Seth Webster earned his third straight win as he battled through 6 innings of work, allowing 1 run on 6 hits and striking out 6. The Boomers bullpen combined for three shutout innings with Evan Boyd earning a 5-out save, his first since June 23. Kenny Towns extended his hitting streak to eight with a single in the fourth inning.
