Naperville library to celebrate Harry Potter book release

Muggles of all ages can celebrate the midnight book release of "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Parts I & II" at Nichols Library in Naperville.

In conjunction with other Potter-themed celebrations throughout downtown Naperville, Nichols Library, 200 W. Jefferson Ave., will be open from 9 a.m. Saturday, July 30, through 12:30 a.m. Sunday, July 31, in anticipation of the book's release at midnight so fans can pick up their copy.

From 6 p.m. to midnight, attendees can win raffle prizes every hour, but they must be present to win. In addition, the library will host many magical events throughout the day and night:

• Hidden Harry Potter offers behind-the-scenes tidbits, hilarious inside jokes and other fascinating facts that will delight Potter fans as pivotal scenes are explored from the films from 3 to 4:30 p.m. July 30 at the Hufflepuff Room in Nichols Library. For ages 10 and older.

• Harry Potter Movie Marathon is 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. July 30 in the Gryffindor Room of Nichols Library. For all ages.

• Hedwig Puppet Craft takes place from 1 to 3 p.m. July 30 in the Great Hall of Nichols Library. For preschool to fifth grade.

• Wizard Training Camp is offered from 2 to 4 p.m. July 30 at Hagrid's Hut in Nichols Library. For preschool to fifth grade.

• Fire-Breathing Dragon Craft takes place 3 to 5 p.m. July 30 in the Great Hall in Nichols Library. For preschool to fifth grade.

• Spell Training is 5 to 7 p.m. July 30 at Hagrid's Hut in Nichols Library. For preschool to fifth grade.

• Make Your Own Wand is offered 5 to 7 p.m. July 30 in the Great Hall in Nichols Library. For preschool to fifth grade.

• Potions Making takes place 6 to 8 p.m. July 30 in the Slytherin Room at Nichols Library. For sixth grade to adult.

• Create the Deathly Hallows with Doodle Pens is offered 6 to 8 p.m. July 30 in the Ravenclaw Room in Nichols Library. For sixth grade to adult.

• Harry Potter Trivia Contest is 7 to 9 p.m. July 30 in the Hufflepuff Room at Nichols Library. For all ages.

• Scavenger Hunt takes place from 7 to 9 p.m. July 30 at Hagrid's Hut in Nichols Library. For preschool to fifth grade.

• Photo of Your First Broom Flight Using Green Screen is offered 8 to 10 p.m. July 30 in the Ravenclaw Room in Nichols Library. For sixth grade to adult.

• Ollivander's Wandmaking is 9 to 11 p.m. July 30 in the Slytherin Room in Nichols Library. For sixth grade to adult.
