Schaumburg men held on theft charges
A Schaumburg man with 12 felony convictions for theft and drug charges was ordered held on a total bail of $80,000 Friday on charges he and a co-defendant took tools from a Hanover Park home improvement store earlier this month.
Jason Jarvis, 34, and co-defendant David Cline, 33, also of Schaumburg, were charged with theft, a class 3 felony punishable by up to five years in prison. Probation is also an option.
Jarvis, who was on probation in DuPage County for possession of drug paraphernalia at the time of his arrest on July 14, has eight retail theft convictions dating back to 2003, three drug possession convictions and one conviction for possession of a stolen motor vehicle, Cook County assistant state's attorney David Mennie said during Jarvis' bond hearing.
Cline, 33, has theft and drug-related misdemeanor convictions, Mennie said. He was ordered held on electronic monitoring by Cook County Judge Joseph Cataldo who urged him to get drug treatment as soon as possible and obey the conditions of his bail.
"Stay out of trouble if you want to stay out of custody," Cataldo said.
Both Jarvis and Cline next appear in court on Aug. 4.
