Get ready to regatta

Teams are being sought for the Mundelein Park & Recreation District's Cardboard Regatta at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6. The event at Diamond Lake Beach, 1016 Diamond Lake Road, between Route 60/83 and Route 45/Lake Street features boats made only of cardboard, duct tape and paint. Awards will be presented to the fastest boats in each of the three classes: youth (aged 10-13), adult/family and business and other awards, including most creative and crowd pleaser "best sink" will be presented. Proceeds benefit the Mundelein Parks Foundation, which provides scholarships for community members. Rules will be provided upon registration at the Mundelein Community Center, 1401 N.
