'Four Seasons,' a free gardening webinar series, begins April 18

Learn more about growing fruits, vegetables and perennials with the University of Illinois Extension "Four Seasons" webinar series this spring.

In April, join Extension Horticulture Educator Jennifer Fishburn as she shares tips on growing vegetables for beginners.

Learn to enjoy the fruits of your labor and take advantage of limited space. This webinar will be presented at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, and again at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 20.

The series continues in May with "Beyond Hostas: Perennials for the Shade."

Extension Horticulture Educator Martha Smith will entice you with her favorite perennials for shady areas. Smith also will provide tips for site selection and first-year maintenance.

This free online presentation will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 2, and 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 4.

Extension Horticulture Educator Bruce Black will close the spring series with "Bountiful Backyards" as he outlines berries brambles and beyond.

Growing small fruits has become increasingly popular, and Black will cover the basics from selection and planting to management and pruning. Sessions will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, and 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 18.

The seasonal free program focuses on environmental stewardship, home gardening, and backyard food production, with new topics explored each season.

All "Four Seasons" webinar sessions can be viewed online for free, but participants must register in advance at go.illinois.edu/4seasons_webinars.
