Buffalo Grove celebrates Flag Day

Tuesday was Flag Day, and the Buffalo Grove Park District was among local groups and institutions marking the day.

Its Flag Day celebration at Veterans Park at 5:30 p.m. featured Army Lt. Col. Priscilla Van Zanten as the guest speaker. The Buffalo Grove Fire Department's Honor Guard presented the colors.

The event featured other speeches. To help draw a crowd, the park district was serving free hot dogs.
