Many figures were polarizing during Vietnam era

I understand that "controversial" can be an effective journalistic style and is used often to stir up the emotions of the subscribers to our newspapers. As a long-time subscriber to the Daily Herald, I am quite OK with that. Mike Imrem enjoys writing about the past, for example, his alma mater, the University of Illinois. However, his comments about Muhammad Ali, stating that the man was the most polarizing figure in the nation during the Vietnam era, was way off base. Many others took to violence against various elements of the "establishment" during this difficult period.
