Fox Lake festivities

Fox Lake's annual Independence Day festivities July 2 include a parade, family-friendly fun at Lakefront Park and fireworks. The Fox Lake Area Chamber of Commerce and Industry presents the Independence Day Parade, which starts at 2 p.m. at Devlin Road and runs west on Grand Avenue to Town Center Plaza on Rollins Road. It will include floats from local organizations and businesses, antique cars, horses and more. The fee is $5 to enter a float. For information, call (847) 587-7474. The annual Celebrate Fox Lake is 3 to 11 p.m. at Lakefront Park, at 71 Nippersink Blvd. Activities include a euro bungy, rock wall, face painting, trackless train rides, a 77-foot obstacle course, games, on-site crafters/vendors, along with a food and beer garden. The band "Dupage" will perform favorite rock and pop hits from the 1970s to today from 6 to 9 p.m. The village's fireworks display starts at dusk. The fireworks will be launched from a barge and explode over the lakefront park on Nippersink Lake. For information, contact the village at (847) 587-2151, or visit foxlake.org.
