Enjoy free concerts in downtown Mount Prospect

Start your weekend off right with free concerts on Village Green, located at the village hall, 50 S. Emerson St. in Mount Prospect.

The 6th annual Fridays on the Green features bands playing hits from the '80s and '90s, R&B, country, hip-hop and more. After the concert, grab a bite to eat at one of the many downtown restaurants.

"Fridays on the Green are one more reason to enjoy your summer weekends in your hometown, Mount Prospect. We hope to see you there," said Mayor Arlene A. Juracek.

The concerts are held the first and third Fridays, June to August (no concert July 1). Shows are 6-8 p.m. People are encouraged to bring blankets or chairs. Picnics are welcome.

2016 Fridays on the Green line-up:

• June 17: The Good Mondays

• July 15: Senn Alan Band

• Aug. 5: Spoken Four

• Aug. 19: Nick Lynch

Concerts take place just one block north of the downtown Mount Prospect Metra Train Station. Free parking is available at the village hall garage and around town.
