Annual Garden Walk at Windsor Park on July 14
More than 30 gardens and balconies will be on display for the public to enjoy when Windsor Park hosts its annual Garden Walk on Thursday, July 14, beginning at 10 a.m., rain or shine. Windsor Park is a retirement community located at 124 Windsor Park Dr. in Carol Stream.
The free self-guided tour runs continuously from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Visitors are asked first to stop by the Centrum in the Town Center for a walking map. A complimentary bus service will transport visitors between neighborhoods and cool refreshments will be offered at various locations.
Each spring, residents start tending their gardens and by early summer, Windsor Park's 60-acres have transformed into a colorful sanctuary. "We have quite a few green thumbs living and working at Windsor Park," said Executive Director Andrew Clauson. "We look forward to sharing the results of their hard work with the community."
In addition to the lush green foliage, there are alliums, irises, daisies, astilbes, and other blooms in various shades of color. Large glass jars and painted pots filled with colorful blooms are situated on residents' balconies and garden patios, and unique birdbaths add an artistic touch to the fragrant butterfly gardens. Visitors are welcome to meander on the stone and grassy paths that wind throughout the community while listening to the wind chimes playing in the air.
