Fundraisers to benefit family of police officer

Fundraisers to benefit the family of the late Vernon Hills police officer Andy Rheintgen are set for Saturday, June 11, and Sunday, June 12, at Hitz Pizza and Sports Bar, 700 Butterfield Road, Mundelein. Rheintgen died in February of cancer. The fundraising effort has been named Project Em-J on behalf of Rheintgen's daughter, Emily Jordan. From 11 a.m. to midnight Saturday, Hitz will donate 10 percent of all sales. There will also be raffles, a split-the-pot and live entertainment/DJ. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, a car show will be held in the Hitz parking lot. Personalized and handmade crafts, jewelry and more will be for sale to benefit Project Em-J.
