Arlington Heights man pleads guilty to possessing child pornography
An Arlington Heights attorney pleaded guilty on Thursday to possessing child pornography.
In exchange for his guilty plea, James Crowley, 37, was sentenced to six months in Cook County jail and 48 months of sex offender probation, according to a spokeswoman for the Cook County state's attorney's office. Cook County Judge James Karahalios also ordered Crowley pay $1,199 in fines.
Police arrested Crowley in June 2015 after receiving a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that child pornography had been uploaded to an Internet service provider address belonging to him, prosecutors said during his bond hearing last year.
During a search of Crowley's home, police recovered thumb and hard drives and DVDs showing children engaged in sexual acts, prosecutors said.
