Boys volleyball: Lake Zurich outlasts Vernon Hills in 3

Nick Meyer had 10 kills for Lake Zurich's boys volleyball team and Nate Amos and Alex Krasowski had 8 apiece as the Bears outlasted Vernon Hills 19-25, 28-26, 25-20 on Thursday in a North Suburban Conference showdown.

The Bears improved to 21-7 overall and 8-2 in the NSC.

Jared Bennett pounded 20 kills for Vernon Hills and Johnny McDonald added 9 kills for the Cougars (16-12, 8-2) while Jake Fiarito was 88-of-89 setting with 32 assists. Bennett, who was 41 of 45 hitting, also had 13 digs.
