Naperville cops intensify search for man who robbed known gambler
Naperville police have intensified the search for a second man believed to have been involved in an August robbery near the city's police station.
Police said two men used a stolen car to trigger a minor traffic accident with the victim around 8 a.m. on Aug. 10 near the intersection of Bailey and Shepherd in an attempt to lure the victim, a known gambler, from his car. The men may have targeted the victim and followed him for some distance, possibly from a nearby casino, authorities said.
After beating and robbing the victim, the men fled in a small, black stolen car before ditching it near the intersection of Aurora and Thornapple roads when police attempted to stop them.
Both suspects tried to run away, but Robert Chencinski, 45, of the 1900 block of Leavitt in Chicago. was immediately caught. The second man remains at large. Chencinski remains in DuPage County jail, charged with the robbery.
Naperville Cmdr. Jason Arres said the second suspect is a thin white man, about 6 feet tall, who was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and dark pants.
"We're putting this in the community and the entire Chicago area, hoping someone can tell us who this guy is," Arres said Wednesday morning. "We're not getting the leads we need to wrap this case up."
