Mount Prospect Public Works Department open house Saturday

The Mount Prospect Public Works Department is hosting its annual open house from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 14, at the Mount Prospect Public Works building, 1700 W. Central Road.

Public Works is responsible for many different services including the water and sewer system, solid waste, snow plowing, tree maintenance, streets and sidewalks. The purpose of the event is to show the responsibilities in a fun and entertaining way.

The event features prizes, tours, rides in aerial trucks and street sweepers, a children's Fun Fact Hunt and a wide range of displays demonstrating how the village's water system, sewer system, parkway trees, buildings, streets and vehicles are maintained. Kids can meet PW Paws, the department's mascot. Refreshments will be provided by the Mount Prospect Lions Club.
