Woman struck and killed by Metra train in Villa Park

A woman was struck and killed Monday morning by a Metra train in Villa Park, just hours after a man was killed by a train in Bartlett.

The woman, who authorities have not yet identified, was struck by inbound Union Pacific/West Line train No. 44 near the Villa Park station about 11:15 a.m., according to Metra officials.

DuPage County Chief Deputy Coroner Charles Dastych confirmed the woman's death, but no other information was immediately available.

Trains were halted in both directions after the crash but had resumed operations by Monday afternoon.
