Listing of the week

One-level living is becoming increasingly popular with people of all ages, but especially with empty-nesters who no longer want to trek up and down lots of steps on a daily basis. So the new 40-duplex townhouse community at The Villas of Ginger Woods in Aurora is expected to sell out quickly.

The townhouses feature both ranch models and two-story floor plans with first-floor master suites.

"Because there are only two homes per building, there is an abundance of windows and green space around each home, making it feel like a single-family home," said Melanie Young of Wichert Realtors Kingsland Properties, the property's listing agent.

Located just north of the Premium Outlet Mall, with convenient access to I-88, the Villas of Ginger Woods offers a quiet and private location. Built by Kingsland Homes Inc., the townhouses offer homeowners energy-efficient heating and cooling with a humidifier and a programmable thermostat, elegant lighting packages, stainless appliances, granite countertops, vaulted ceilings in most great rooms, hardwood floors, framed bathroom mirrors, generous cabinetry in the laundry rooms and full basements with roughed-in plumbing.

Kingsland also provides each home with a brick patio, concrete driveway, brick front, fiber cement siding, a custom individual mailbox near the home and a garage keypad entry.

Exterior maintenance including lawn care, snow shoveling, lawn irrigation and roof replacement is handled by the homeowners association. In addition, buyers can receive six months of free association fees with any contract accepted by May 31. Specials are also being offered for quick-delivery homes that are move-in ready.

Young offers more details:

What is this home's hidden gem?

"The luxurious master baths with walk-in spa showers are particularly appealing."

What would your perfect buyer look like?

"Anyone who wants to spend less time doing outside yard work but also wants to have quality details and finishes in their home will be drawn to The Villas of Ginger Woods. We see a lot of empty-nester buyers and people who might be downsizing from a single-family home, but still want to have a nice space for guests and family."

What is the coolest thing about living in this neighborhood?

"This is a peaceful, quiet neighborhood with walking paths, yet it is only minutes from Oak Brook, Geneva and Naperville where you can enjoy a variety of shopping, events and activities."

What television or movie character can you picture living in this home?

"Someone like Meryl Streep who has worked hard at job and career and is now ready to take a next step toward a lower-maintenance home so she can travel and enjoy life more is the perfect candidate. But when the owners are home, they still want the higher-end finishes and customization that is available."

What is one adjective that you would use to describe this home?

"Impressive, yet comfortable."

Is there landscaping in the yard?

"Landscaping for each home is uniquely and professionally designed and usually includes a flowering tree or bush and several other varieties of plants and shrubs to provide texture and color, which will enhance the exterior of the home."

Vaulted ceilings are found in most great rooms.
There are several quick-delivery homes that are move-in ready available at the Villas of Ginger Woods.
