Woodcarving show returns to Cantigny Park
The annual Artistry in Wood exhibition and sale returns this weekend to Cantigny Park in Wheaton.
Presented by the North Suburban Carvers, the show will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday in the Visitors Center, 1S151 Winfield Road. Parking is $5 and admission is free.
Artistry in Wood features many of the Midwest's finest woodcarvers representing a variety of techniques and styles. Woodcarvings, turnings, wood burning art, hand-carved figurines and other items will be exhibited, with many pieces available for purchase.
Among the items for sale will be hand-carved Christmas ornaments and tulips with 100 percent of the proceeds benefiting Shriners Hospital for Children in Oak Park.
This marks the sixth consecutive year for Artistry in Wood at Cantigny Park. Visitors to the show enjoy live demonstrations and opportunities to interact with the artists, all of them members of North Suburban Carvers. Twenty-two exhibitors are expected.
In addition, the club invites all attending military veterans to enter a free raffle for a chance to win a one of 15 handcrafted eagle-head presentation canes.
Established in 1979, North Suburban Carvers is based in Bensenville and has about 150 members. More information is available online at northsuburbancarvers.org.
