Cardinals release veteran DT Cory Redding
TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) - The Arizona Cardinals have released defensive tackle Cory Redding.
The 14-year NFL veteran missed four games last season with an ankle injury but played in the other 12. The 34-year-old lineman had a career-low five tackles last season but recovered two fumbles and had the second interception of his career.
He made two memorable big plays.
The 6-foot-4, 318-pound Redding returned Aaron Rodgers' fumble 36 yards for a touchdown against Green Bay, stiff-arming Eddie Lacy along the way.
Against Detroit, he made a one-handed interception of Matthew Stafford's screen pass and returned it 30 yards. Redding tried unsuccessfully to hurdle Stafford at the end of the play and came down at the Lions 4-yard line.
