Softball: Libertyville powers past Grant
Softball
Jamie Stevens and Hannah Heraty hit back-to-back home runs, and Libertyville's softball team cruised to a 12-2 win in five innings over visiting Grant in a North Suburban Conference crossover on Thursday.
Both Libertyville and Heraty, who allowed 6 hits and struck out five in a complete-game effort, improved to 10-1.
Jessie Lauret went 3-for-4 with a triple and 3 RBI for the Wildcats. Sam Hilldale and Stevens (double, 4 RBI) also were 3-for-4. Heraty finished 2-for-2 at the plate. Emily Hilldale (double), Kenzie Rother and Lyndsey Lyon were all 2-for-3.
Erin Bengston homered and doubled for Grant. Both she and freshman Calista Warmowski finished 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Antioch 6, Mundelein 2: The Sequoits rallied for 5 runs in the top of the seventh to stun the Mustangs, who lost two players to injury in the North Suburban crossover.
Piper Foote started Antioch's rally with a solo home run. Annie Wagner (2-for-4) later hit a three-run triple, and Carlie Gaylord (2-for-4) capped the inning with an RBI single.
Hannah Cook pitched 4 innings in relief to earn the win, as the Sequoits (13-1) captured their 13th win in a row.
Mundelein lost Olivia Michalski and Kaitlyn Griffin to injuries and played the last three innings with eight players.
Griffin and Peyton Pribyl had doubles for the Mustangs.
Lakes 6, Warren 2: Molly Dietz racked up 4 RBI on a pair of hits, including a double, for the visiting Eagles in the North Suburban crossover.
Ally Perdue notched the complete-game win, allowing 5 hits and 3 walks while striking out two.
Crystal Pennell hit a two-run homer for Warren (7-7).
Wauconda 14, Lake Forest 1: Kayla Serio (2-1) pitched all five innings in the North Suburban crossover, allowing 4 hits and 1 walk with 3 strikeouts.
Serio helped her cause by going 2-for-2 with a double and 2 walks, scoring four times. Kayla Wedl was 2-for-2 with a double, triple and walk. Kelly Weller was 3-for-3, scoring three runs. Willow Schanz was 2-for-3, and Brooke Sefcik was 3-for-4 with a double.
The Bulldogs had 14 hits in improving their record to 5-3.
Warren 13, Stevenson 12: On Wednesday, Taylor Aaron's RBI single in the bottom of the seventh gave the Blue Devils a walk-off win in North Suburban Lake action.
Warren improved to 3-1 in the division. Stevenson fell to 3-1 in the NSC Lake.
