World Class Basketball 17-U National wins 'And 1 Super 16'
Congratulations to the World Class Basketball 17-U National Team on winning its first tournament of the season winning four games in one day at the "And 1 Super 16," which was held at Moraine Valley College in Palos Heights.
In their first game, defense led the way as they beat the Illinois Icemen 46-28. In their very physical second game, they played a solid game while going 6-for-6 from the 3-point line in the second half to beat the YBU All Stars 62 to 38 which also gave them the number one seed in the single elimination tournament.
Based on seeding, they had to beat the YBU All Stars again and, in a game shortened by the YBU All Stars walking off the court before the game was over, won the game by forfeit 26 to 15. In the championship game against a very solid F3 team, they had a great second half to pull away and win 55 to 42 and win the tournament.
The team consists of Kelvin Cortez-Harvey (St. Edwards), Michael Volkening (Marengo), Logan Atkins (South Elgin), Ben Schols (Conant), Liam Brigham (Rolling Meadows), Kyle Scully (South Elgin), Wade Kyle (St. Charles East) and Adam Krauser (Woodstock). Kelvin Cortez-Harvey was named MVP of the tournament.
They will now head to Minnesota this upcoming weekend to play in the NCAA Certified NY2LA Spring Extravaganza.
