Girls water polo: Rolling Meadows climbs into first-place tie in MSL East

Rolling Meadows' girls water polo program added to its best-ever start with a 9-2 victory over Elk Grove on Tuesday.

The outcome puts Rolling Meadows at 8-3 overall and 4-1 in the Mid-Suburban East - which creates a three-way tie for the division lead.

Prospect, Hersey and Rolling Meadows are each 4-1, with half of the MSL East slate completed.

Agains the Grens, Lizzie Hardt led the way with 4 goals and Maggie Goodwin had 3. Bailey Rowley and Emily Walters both scored once, and Betsy Zanocco stopped 6 shots.

Lilly Lawrin had one of the goals for Elk Grove (3-7, 1-4), and goalie Jessica Deering made 11 saves.

Barrington 6, St. Charles North 5: The Fillies pitched a shutout in the first half and managed to hang on for a nonconference victory as Mia Latimer and Bella Rojas both scored twice and Heidi Pallan and Andrea Potgieter once while Ellie Connors stopped 7 shots.
