"Forbidden Broadway" will open Wheaton Drama's 2016-17 season.
The show, directed by Stan Austin, will run Sept. 16 to Oct. 9. This is an off-Broadway revue parodying Broadway musical theater.
"Shrek, The Musical" will be directed by Mike Boyna and be staged Nov. 18 to Dec. 11. The musical follows Shrek, the ogre, and his loyal friend Donkey as they pursue a quest to rescue Princess Fiona from Lord Farquaad.
"A Christmas Carol" will be presented as a radio show Dec. 15 to 18. In keeping with a tradition started four years ago, Pam Turlow will direct the classic story as a radio presentation suitable for family attendance.
"The Elephant Man" begins the new year and runs Jan. 20 to Feb. 12, 2017. It will be directed by Sean Ogren. This play depicts the life of John Merrick, a severely disfigured man who was rescued by a kindly doctor, and takes place in London during the later part of the 1800s.
"Outside Mullingar" performances are March 24 to April 15, and will be directed by Rob Reinalda. An Irish father and son and their neighbors, consider questions of life, death, love and the family farm. This is a lovely romantic comedy.
"The Producers," the final production of the 2016-17 season, will be directed by Craig Gustafson. It runs May 26 to June 18. This is a hilarious satire of the business side of Broadway. Max Bialystock and Leo Bloom make money by producing a surefire flop.
