Streamwood house fire kills two dogs
Two dogs died after fire broke out in the kitchen of a Streamwood home Tuesday afternoon, fire officials said.
Streamwood firefighters responded 4:24 p.m. to a report of a house fire in the 0-100 block of Glendale Court, finding heavy smoke coming from a two-story, single-family dwelling, authorities said.
The residents, who discovered the fire when they returned home, reported that several pets remained inside. Firefighters extinguished a fire in the kitchen, then recovered two dogs and a cat from the building. The dogs died despite attempts to resuscitate them, officials said.
The fire started in the area of the kitchen stove, and extended into the attic, causing damage estimated at $100,000, according to the Streamwood Fire Department.
