Lake in the Hills water problem fixed, precautionary boil order remains

A Lake in the Hills precautionary boil order remains in effect for 48 hours, village officials say.

The order was issued Sunday evening for residents on the east side of town because of diminished water pressure caused by a water tower draining to an extremely low level. The problem was fixed immediately and water supply was restored, officials said.

Homes east of Crystal Lake Road, two blocks east of Randall Road, are affected by the boil order. A letter was hand delivered to the front doors of the homes Sunday evening.

Those residents should bring water used for cooking or drinking to a rolling boil for at least 5 minutes before using. Samples of the water in the system are being sent to a laboratory for analysis to ensure there are no contaminants present, officials said.
