Schaumburg resident wins Xerox scholarship

Muhammad Hashim, an Honors College senior in mechanical engineering at the University of Illinois at Chicago, has been awarded a Xerox Technical Minority Scholarship.

Hashim, a Schaumburg resident, is among a nationwide group of students who have been chosen for the honor, which recognizes academic achievement in science, engineering and technology.

The scholarships, which are funded by the Xerox Foundation, provide between $1,000 and $10,000 to a select group of minority students enrolled in a technical degree program at the bachelor's degree level or above. Eligible students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher and show financial need.
