Redskins sign punter Tress Way to 5-year contract

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Washington Redskins have signed punter Tress Way to a five-year contract extension.

Way has been the Redskins' punter since winning the job before the 2014 season. He was an exclusive rights free agent.

The 25-year-old lefty out of Oklahoma averaged 46.1 yards and 39.8 net yards on his 70 punts last season. He improved after some struggles early in the year.

Way led the NFL in punting in 2014.
