'Outsider' not right for Lake County Board

Buried rather deep in his exhaustive biography is that county board candidate David Zipp is not from Fox Lake.

On his website, he gives this part of his history one line. He boasts about every other aspect of his life in great detail but doesn't really want anyone to know he is from Kentucky. He doesn't talk much about his Kentucky upbringing.

Well, the voters should know the fact is that he didn't grow up here in Lake County. He did not live here for most of the period he now criticizes. Yet he's now an expert about what we in this community need.

It's rather easy for an outsider to come to Lake County and criticize a period of growth in this community when he has no knowledge of what life was like then.

He seems intent to run a campaign of mud slinging and dirty politics. He wouldn't know it, but this Kentucky mudslinging is rather distasteful to the folks of our community.

Maybe this kind of uncivil campaign may work wherever he grew up, but it has no place here.

Maybe it's "Kentucky Values" but it is certainly not Fox Lake values.
