W. Dundee church hosts bottled water collection for Flint

Bethlehem Lutheran Church in West Dundee is embarking on a bottled water collection campaign to aid the residents of Flint, Michigan, during their municipal water crisis.

The church is asking for help by local residents and businesses to make or solicit donations of bottled water which they will ship to the Flint area for distribution to its residents.

Bring cases of individual water bottles or gallon bottles to the red brick church at the corner of Main Street (Route 72) and Fourth Street in West Dundee. The church will coordinate receipt, storage, and shipment of all donations.

As a local business, your participation can provide a necessary service or product to facilitate this vital humanitarian project. Consider the ways your business would be willing to participate and to what level your commitment may be.

Opportunities to participate include: donation of bottled water, signage to promote the project, assistance with shipping, donations for printing and postage to communicate to the community, inclusion in business websites and newsletters, display and distribution of fliers.

For retail businesses, consider how you can provide an opportunity for local residents to participate without needing to actually handle the water being donated. One thought is to distribute "coupons" to the community, then when your customers shop at your store they can remit a "coupon" and a fee for a specified product. The store would then "hold" the product for the customer and notify Bethlehem that a donation is ready to be picked up.

Your participation in this project can help assure the project's success. The community can show the residents of Flint that they are a loved and cherished citizenry of the national community.
