Voters, common sense over anger

I am compelled for the first time in my life to break Ronald Reagan's 11th commandment, "thou shall not speak ill about a fellow Republican." Never mind, not applicable here.

Caveat, I am about as establishment-like as Rush Limbaugh. Republicans have raged, like me, for seven years about how Obama is a narcissistic, self absorbed, egomaniac. And now we might nominate the New York version? Trump's conservative/Republican bonafides: Pro-abortion to include partial birth until a recent conversion on the road to Damascus? Calling President Bush a liar, blaming him for 9/11. Trump should have his own show on MSNBC.

Senator McCain is a "loser" because he was captured and tortured for several years in Vietnam, while Donald was living large on his daddy's fortune. Contributed to many politicians on the left, including Pelosi and Reid, two of the most vile examples of what Republicans loathe. Praised Clinton as a Secretary of State, who lied to the families of the Americans killed in Benghazi while standing next to their deceased loved ones' caskets.

The immigration warrior has hired illegal aliens to build his hotels. Half-hearted rebuke of David Duke's (KKK) support. Any one of these issues would have torpedoed any Republican quicker than another Trump insult.

Trump is a walking treasure trove of fodder that Clinton will capitalize on in the general election. Contemplate this for a second: Trump has higher negatives than Clinton. We finally have a severely flawed candidate running for president and we counter with someone with higher negatives? Is this the best this country has to offer: a congenital liar versus a vacuous carnival barker?

Quoting William F. Buckley, vote for the most conservative candidate that can win. That would be Rubio. Trump will be savaged by Dems in November. Please people, common sense over anger?
