Capannari Ice Cream opens for the season March 12

Mount Prospect's Capannari Ice Cream will be opening for the season at noon on March 12.

Capannari's, 10 S. Pine St., will start its 16th season with a "banana extravaganza" during which customers who bring in a banana will receive 25 percent off a banana split, according to a news release.

Capannari's has been voted "Best Ice Cream in Chicago" by Chicago Magazine and featured on WGN-TV's Chicago's Best, as well as in Bon Appétit Magazine as one of the nation's Top Picks.

Through April 1, Capannari's is open weekends only from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays, noon to 10 p.m. Saturdays and noon to 9 p.m. Sundays. Weekday hours - 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday - begin April 4.
