Bills GM Whaley has contract talks with QB Taylor's reps

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Buffalo Bills general manager Doug Whaley says he's had discussions with quarterback Tyrod Taylor's representatives regarding a contract extension.

Whaley provided the update to reporters at the NFL combine on Thursday.

Taylor has one season left on his contract and established himself in going 8-6 as a first-time starter last year. The Bills signed Taylor in free agency a year ago after he spent his first four seasons as Joe Flacco's backup in Baltimore.

Taylor was an efficient passer in going 242 of 380 for 3,035 yards with 20 touchdowns and six interceptions. He also showed off his mobility with 565 yards rushing - a franchise record for quarterbacks - and four touchdowns.

Coach Rex Ryan has already pegged Taylor to be Buffalo's starter next season.
