Government needs to focus on priorities

In reference to the article by Cokie and Steve Roberts and all other rights movements: I am all for what has been accomplished in the last 30 years with women's, blacks', Hispanics' and gay people's rights in this country. There has been much progress.

What about the progress with gun control, health care, immigration infiltration and compensation for our injured troops fighting overseas? These issues affect all Americans and are more serious issues.

Assault weapons need to be banned. Medicare fraud needs to be stopped. We have HMOs with $7, 000 deductible, Cuban jailbirds, cartels, terrorism and troops to fight other countries' wars.

Our government is voting on gay marriage and what kids are eating for lunch?

Of the people, by the people and for the people means all Americans, not one race, one gender or one lifestyle.

Americans need to unite and demand more serious issues be attacked by our government and other more selfish agendas be put on hold or our country will continue to spiral.

Women's climb up the ladder of success is just not a priority right now.
