Lombard man charged with three Schaumburg burglaries
A Lombard man charged with stealing money from cash registers at three Schaumburg businesses was ordered held on $75,000 bail.
Armando Rivera, 32, was charged with three counts of burglary, a felony punishable by up to seven years in prison.
During the early morning hours of Feb. 7, Rivera and a co-offender smashed a window at a food and liquor store in the 800 block of South Roselle Road and took a cash register containing $242, said Cook County Assistant State's Attorney David Mennie at his bail hearing Thursday.
Not long after that, Mennie said, the duo stopped at a fast-food restaurant in the 700 block of East Schaumburg Road, where they smashed a window and removed a cash register drawer containing $1,500. The last burglary of the night took place at a motorcycle gear and clothing store in the 1400 block of North Meacham Road, where Rivera and the co-offender made off with two helmets and three jackets worth about $2,500, Mennie said.
The co-offender, who was not identified, did not appear in a Rolling Meadows bond court on Friday as scheduled. A warrant was issued for his arrest, prosecutors said.
Rivera, who prosecutors said received supervision for past misdemeanor DUI, battery and retail theft convictions, returns to court on March 10.
