Street closures approved for events

The Wauconda village board on Tuesday approved street closures for the farmers market and Cruise Night car shows this year. Both events have drawn criticism from some downtown merchants who said the street closures hurt sales at their businesses or didn't draw people to the stores. Both events are held on Main Street north of Route 176. The farmers market will be Thursday afternoons and evenings between June 23 and Sept. 8. The car shows are set for June 21, July 19, Aug. 16 and Sept. 20.
