Mt. Prospect Community Band Seeks New Members

The Mt. Prospect Community Band, a program of the Mt. Prospect Park District, is actively seeking new members. The Band is an adult, volunteer wind ensemble, or concert band. Rehearsals are held every Monday night at the Mt. Prospect Park District RecPlex, 420 W Dempster St, at 7:30 pm. No auditions are required for membership, but members should be at least 18 years of age and be reasonably proficient in their instrument. Openings exist in all band sections, but we are especially in need of percussionists. All percussion equipment is supplied by the band.

The band is under the direction of Monty Adams who has an impressive resume including being the music director for multiple ensembles in the Chicago area. Monty has also performed previously with the US Air Force band and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

The next concert for the band is scheduled for Sunday, March 13, 2016, at 3:30 pm at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Mt. Prospect. A weekly summer concert series is also scheduled beginning Monday, June 13 at the Veterans Memorial Band Shell at Lions Park. The summer series runs through the end of July although no performance is scheduled for Independence Day.

For further information, including help in registration, please contact the Mt. Prospect Park District Cultural Arts Manager, Ann Zimmerman, at 847-640-1000.
