David Adler Music and Arts Center Announces Spring Classes and Creative Summer Camps

The David Adler Music and Arts Center announces open registration for our popular Camp Adler and Chamber Camp, as well as a creative array of art and music classes and new early childhood classes that begin February 29th.

Summer Camps

Camp Adler: Camp Adler is the camp for youth (ages 5-11) to explore music, drama, and art. Campers explore current interests and develop new ones as they build their own schedule from a variety of exciting art, music, and drama classes. Two sessions. Full-day and Half-day options and Before/After care are available. Junior Tribe Leader applications (ages 12-15) are available online at www.adlercenter.org

Chamber Music Camp: Work with professional musicians in this one-week camp designed for young musicians (ages 7-15) who want to play as an ensemble. Musicians are placed in chamber groups according to age and ability. Receive individual instruction, daily performance opportunities, and present an end-of-camp concert for families and friends. One Session, August 8-12.

New Spring Art Classes

A wide variety of art classes for children and adults are taught in picturesque studios surrounding David Adler historic home. Classes begin February 29th and run through April 18th with no class the weeks of March 21st and 28th. Beginners are always welcome.

Drawing II: Youth will create works of art using a variety of drawing techniques, including perspective, composition, shading, and blending colors. Designed for continuing students and beginners ready for a challenge. For Ages 5-12. Begins 3/2.

Landscape and Abstract Painting: Youth can create a whimsical landscapes and abstract paintings using acrylic, water colors, and oil pastels. Explore a new media as you create all types of outlandish landscapes. For Ages 5-12. Begins 2/29.

Adult and Teen: Independent Study: Teens and adults can receive personalized instruction on a project of their own choosing. Come to class with an image or idea and receive instruction and guidance as you complete your project. Ages 12 and up.

Art and Wine Workshops: Follow along in this relaxing step-by-step workshop as you receive art instruction and learn techniques to paint your own acrylic painting. "Bring Your Own Bottle" to enjoy, listen to music, and complete your own personal masterpiece.

Early Childhood Classes at the Adler Center

Parent-Tot Reggio, 15 months - 3: Young children and their caregivers will participate in storytelling, puppetry, and musical experiences. Using their senses they will explore various art materials, musical instruments, and be given opportunities for creative movement. The grown-ups will be introduced to the Reggio philosophy of education and will be given tools to support the learning at home. Fridays, 9:30-10:30am. Begins March 4th.

The David Adler Music and Arts Center is pleased to partner with Music in the Box to offer the following spring classes for our smallest musicians:

Baby/Music Masters 1, Ages 0-18 months: Make music a weekly part of your baby's developmental experiences. Learn songs and activities you can do with your child at home. Rhythm instruments, scarves, puppets, and books are used with poetry and song to create a rich learning environment. Thursdays, 10:30-11:00am.

Music Masters 2, Ages 16 months-3: Music is the ideal activity at this age of energy, independence and social awareness. Singing, dancing, books and pretend play will delight your child in this class. Basic music concepts are introduced, increasing your child's musical intelligence. Thursdays, 9:30-10:15am.

Music Maestros, Ages 3-5: Taking the next step in instrument or vocal readiness is the goal of Music Maestros. All children will play theory games to enhance their musical intelligence within an engaging parent/child musical classroom. Using rhythm instruments with purpose, understanding beats and rhythms and basic dynamic and tempo games create the perfect learning environment for the preschool aged child. Wednesdays, 5:15-6pm.
